Are you an inspiring teacher ready to help children thrive at a crucial stage of their education?

Onchan School is looking for a creative and enthusiastic teacher to join our vibrant school community from January 2027. Initially working within our Year 6 team, you'll inspire pupils as they prepare for the transition to secondary school, helping them develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.

✔A competitive salary that increases each 12 months until you reach the salary maximum.

✔ Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, you will be offered two pensions arrangements: the Teachers Superannuation scheme or the Isle of Man Government Defined Contribution (DC) arrangement.

✔ If you are returning to the island and have participated in the Department’s Student Loan scheme for tuition fees, the loan will be repaid by the Department upon completion of your second year working as a teacher at one of the island’s schools. The repayment is subject to a maximum of £7,500 for a three-year degree course or £10,000 for a four-year degree course, and the requirements detailed in the Teacher Loan Cancellation Policy.

✔ For those returning to the island after graduating from university, you will receive a refund on your national insurance contributions during the first 12 months of your employment, up to £4,400.

✔ Access to the Learning, Education and Development training facility, which is exclusively for Public Service employees, to keep on top of your continuous professional development.

An enhanced with barring police check is required for this post, the cost of which will be covered by the Isle of Man Government.
