About this role
Leads hands-on science activities and experiments for children at after-school and holiday clubs across the Isle of Man.
Science Club Leader We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and responsible person to join the Fun Science team as a Science Club Leader. The successful candidate will lead fun, hands-on science activities and experiments during our after-school and holiday clubs. All activities, equipment and training will be provided, so you do not need to be a science expert - just enthusiastic about working with children and excited to get stuck in!
The role involves:
Leading science activities and experiments with groups of young children. Explaining activities clearly and ensuring children follow safety instructions. Managing a group of children and responding confidently to different situations. Setting up and clearing away equipment and keeping the activity area tidy.
Ensuring children are supervised and leave safely with their responsible adult. The position would ideally suit someone with previous experience of working with children or young people. We are particularly looking for someone who demonstrates initiative, good judgement, confidence and enthusiasm, and who can take charge when needed.
As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to give examples of situations where they have:
Taken initiative to complete a task without being asked. Used their judgement to deal with a challenging or delicate situation. Demonstrated responsibility when working with children or young people. Clubs are held at various times and locations across the Isle of Man. After-school clubs generally take place during weekday afternoons, after the school day has finished, while holiday clubs take place during school holidays.
A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is preferred, as travel between different venues may be required. An enhanced DBS check will be completed for the successful candidate. Due to the nature of the role, which involves responsibility for children and working with substances that may be hazardous if handled incorrectly, candidates must be over 18 years of age, in accordance with the Employment of Children Regulations 2018.
To apply, please send your CV and a brief covering statement, along with details of two recent referees, to [email protected].
